Our people are changing the textile industry

Dr Keith Hudson - Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
"My role as Founder and Chief Scientific Officer is important to me for a number of reasons, but two really stick out. Firstly, sustainability is a core driver for me. By culturing microorganisms, we are able to efficiently diversify the types and properties of a variety of foods and materials that we currently have, and such production can be a key driver for people to live sustainably on the planet. Secondly, I thrive in small, focused research teams - they really are the most powerful and exciting way to work and Sapro-Tech is ticking that box."

Ian Hosie - Director
“Fungi and mycelium is the ultimate sustainable material. Natural, fast-growing, biodegradable… a wonder material. It’s a privilege to be working with such incredible organisms. For textiles and fashion, mycelium is a smart platform to make beautiful and functional products from nature, in a sector that drastically needs to improve its footprint.”

Gayani Weeraratne - Scientist
"People may not know that Sapro-Tech is "home-grown". That is, our fungi are from here right here in New Zealand. Our people live here, our offices are here, and our laboratory is here. It's New Zealand innovation at its best."
-

Grace Drummond - Scientist
“Every idea has the potential to make a significant impact, and I know that every day I am contributing towards a greener future for the planet.”
-

Andy Hamilton - Consultant
"Sapro-Tech's mission matters to me because we are doing something worthwhile. Our mission is hard, ambitious, and important. We are taking the beautiful elements of nature and purposing them into products for consumers that leaves the world in a better place."
-

Dr Erin Stroud - Consultant
"As a scientist, I love working at the edge of technology. Sapro-Tech fills that niche, and I am thrilled to be part of something that can contribute to the bigger picture."

Karlena Dunn - Design Intern
“I am passionate about biomaterials as a solution to pollution in the fashion and textiles industry. It is inspiring to see this level of innovation taking place in New Zealand and I am proud to be working for a company so aligned with my values.”
